Notify: Superintendent of the district where the child resides (or the county superintendent); Written statement of intent (form SFN 16909; certified mail recommended); ≥5 days before starting, or within 14 days of establishing residence; annually thereafter.

District's standardized achievement test, or (on parent request) a nationally normed standardized test

Instruction hours

≥4 hours/day × ≥175 days (≈700 hours/year)

Elem/middle: ELA (reading, composition, creative writing, grammar, spelling), math, social studies (US Constitution, US history, geography, government; ND studies in grades 4 & 8), science (incl. agriculture), PE, health. HS: ELA (literature, composition, speech), math, science (biology + chemistry/physical science), social studies (US history, civics, economics, personal finance), PE, and foreign language OR fine arts OR CTE
