What you notify / file
Notify: Local school district superintendent; NYC families notify NYC DOE Office of Homeschooling; Written NOI (certified mail; NYC permits email); Annually by July 1, or within 14 days of starting mid-year.
Testing / evaluation
Grades 1–3: narrative eval or standardized test. Grades 4–8: standardized test ≥ every other year (narrative in alternate years). Grades 9–12: standardized test every year (ACT/SAT do not qualify)
