What you notify / file

Notify: California Department of Education (CDE) — not the local district; Private School Affidavit (PSA) filed online via CDE; or a written statement containing all EC § 33190 elements; Annually; statutory window Oct 1–15; PSA system open Aug 1–Jun 30 (new/mid-year starts).

Testing / evaluation

No standardized testing or evaluation required.

Grades 1–6 (EC § 51210): English, mathematics, social sciences, science, visual & performing arts, health, PE. Grades 7–12 (EC § 51220): English, social sciences, world languages, PE, science, visual & performing arts, health, career technical ed, consumer ed, driver ed
